English abstract
The current study aimed at exploring the relationship between the psychological resilience and the level of motivation among school teachers in Al-Dakhiliya governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. In particular, it attempted to investigate whether there are any significant differences in this relationship which can be attributed to the independent variables of gender, age and educational qualification.
To verify this, the researcher used the Conner and Davidson)2003) Psychological Resilience Scale and the Motivation Scale used in Abu Aisha's (2019) study. The sample of the study consisted of (464) male and female teachers out of a study population of (7856) male and female teachers.
The results of the study revealed a high level of psychological resilience and motivation among teachers of Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate schools in the Sultanate of Oman. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of psychological resilience which can be attributed to the variables of age, gender and educational qualification. However, there were statistically significant differences in the general level of motivation due to the variable of age. These significant differences were also observed in the dimension of incentives and work environment in favor of the age group (22-35).
In addition, the results revealed that there were statistically significant differences due to the educational qualification variable in the level of motivation as a whole. In particular, there were significant differences in the dimension of incentives, work environment and teaching load in favor of bachelor holders. In the level of motivation there were also statistically significant differences which are attributed to gender in favor of female teachers. The study concluded that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between psychological resilience and the degree of motivation. It also showed that psychological resilience can contribute to predicting the degree of motivation. Based on these results, the study recommended the need to pay attention to psychological resilience in the educational field because of its relationship with the degree of motivation. Maintaining and improving the current level of motivation are also recommended.
