English abstract
The current study aimed to identify the characteristics of the content of the qualitative
research methodology used in educational and psychological research published in Arab
periodicals, as well as master's and doctoral dissertations during the period (2010 to
2020) and to know the degree of achievement of quality indicators in it. The content
analysis method was used. The researcher developed a form for analyzing the content of
the methodology and finding out the indicator of the degree of quality verification in it.
The validity of the analysis tool was verified through the experts' judgments and that
the reliability was verified through the agreement of the analysts, as the percentage of
agreement in the analysis as a whole was (90.9%). The sample of the analyzed studies
consisted of (37) qualitative studies in the educational and psychological fields, and in
specializations of (curricula and teaching methods, educational foundations and
administration, psychology, and learning technology). The results of the study came out
that the most used qualitative research design was ethnographic research (24.32%), the
most used tool for collecting data was the interview (78.3%), and that the most used
type of sample was the purposeful sample with (35.14%). With regard to the availability
of quality indicators in the content of the methodology of qualitative studies and
research, results showed that the standards of each of the philosophical model, the
description of the site and the sample, the data collection methods, and the description
of trustworthiness and dependability strategies were achieved with a degree of
"somewhat available", while the standards of research design and data analysis came
with a degree of "not available". The study recommended the need for researchers to
pay attention to employing the methodology in qualitative research in the right ways, in
terms of using designs for qualitative research, its tools, sampling methods, how to
ensure the trustworthiness of data, and data analysis methods.
