English abstract
This study aims to explore the correlation between successful intelligence
and its relation to positive thinking and achievement motivation with
A'Sharqiyah University students in Sultanate of Oman. The researcher
followed the correlational descriptive approach, using the Successful
Intelligence Scale, the Positive Thinking Scale, and the Achievement
Motivation Scale. The sample of the study consisted of (419) males and
females' students from different faculties, different years of studies and
different GPA. The candidates were randomly chosen. The results of the study
showed that successful intelligence, positive thinking and achievement
motivation are significantly high with the A'Sharqiyah University students.
The results also confirmed that there is a positive correlative relation between
the dimensions of successful intelligence (analytical. Creative and pragmatic)
and positive thinking and achievement motivation. The dimensions of
successful intelligence assisted in explaining (40%) of the variance in positive
thinking and (46%) in the variance in achievement motivation. On one hand,
there is no statistical significance of positive thinking and achievement
motivation based on the gender of the students. On the other hand, there is a
statistical significance correlation on successful intelligence based on the
students' major subjects (science or human studies) in favour to the science
subject (with a slight impact). Furthermore, there is no significant correlation
between positive thinking and achievement motivation based on the major.
There is a significant correlation between positive thinking and achievement
motivation based on the students GPA in favour of students with A, B grade
(with slight impact). On one hand, there is no significant correlation of
positive thinking and GPA. Based on the results of the study, the study
suggested several important recommendations as follows: Provide training
programmes and educational activities for human science students based on
successful intelligence skills to enhance the ability to analyse, create and use
practical application by connecting the theory with practice in addition to
suggesting using the advanced measurement and scale of the study by
researchers and interested educators due to its advanced psychometric
features.
