The current study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a training program
based on the therapeutic writing method in reducing smartphone addiction among a
sample of eighth-grade female students in the Al-Sharqiyah South Governorate. The
study sample used semi-experimental approach in two equal groups, with pre and
post tests. The study sample consisted of (30) eighth-grade female students, who
were selected by purposive way. The study members were randomly distributed
equally into two experimental and control groups, with (15) female students in each
group. The study tools were the smartphone addiction scale developed by Kwon et

to the training program based on the therapeutic writing method, which included the
techniques and methods of therapeutic writing prepared by the researcher, and was
applied after being validated by a number of experts, and its suitability was verified
over the course of (8) sessions at a rate of two sessions per week, each session lasting
(35) minutes. The results of the study showed that there were no statistically
significant differences between the averages scores of the members of both the
experimental and control groups on the smartphone addiction scale in the post-test.
In addition, the results showed no statistically significant differences on the
smartphone addiction scale between the average scores of the experimental group
members in the two pre- and post-tests.
