English abstract
The study aimed to reveal: "The level of confidence of social studies teachers
in the Sultanate of Oman in Oman Vision 2040 and its relationship to their attitudes
towards their professional future." The study sample consisted of (314) social studies
teachers in the academic stage (5-12) in the educational governorates (North Batinah,
South Batinah, Muscat, North Sharqiya, South Sharqiya, Dakhiliya, Dhahirah and
Buraimi). To achieve the objective of the study, two scales were used, the first of which
was seven areas :( Credibility, accuracy, understanding, belief, acceptance, knowledge
and coherence), and the second of three areas: Temporal comparison of the
professional situation inside the country, after the implementation of Oman Vision
2040 and comparison of the Omani professional status with the peers of other
educational systems, after the implementation of Oman Vision 2040 and the future
outlook of the professional situation, after the implementation of Oman Vision 2040).
The indications of the apparent honesty of the two tools were extracted, by presenting
them to a group of arbitrators from various disciplines, and they unanimously agreed
on the validity and validity of the statements of the two scales, as well as the indications
of stability, where the total stability of the first tool (0.96) and the second tool (0.93).
The first tool of the study found that the level of confidence of social studies
teachers in the Sultanate of Oman in Oman Vision 2040 came at an average level in
four areas: (credibility, accuracy, understanding and coherence) as well as the scale as
a whole. It also found a statistically significant difference at the level of significance
(α ≥0.05) in the field of "understanding" in favor of females, and there is also a
statistical significance in the experience variable in favor of teachers with experience
(1-9) years in the field of "acceptance" and the scale as a whole, and with regard to the
governorate variable, the results show a statistical significance in favor of teachers of
Muscat Governorate in the field of "acceptance" and "interdependence" and the scale
as a whole.
The second tool also found that the attitudes of social studies teachers towards
their professional future came at a "better" level based on their level of confidence in
Oman Vision 2040, coming with an arithmetic mean of (3.41) and a standard deviation
of (0.96),. It also found a statistically significant difference at the level of significance
(α ≥0.05) in the experience variable in favor of the years of experience for newly
employed social studies teachers (1-9 years) and social studies teachers with great
experience (28-36 years) in all areas of the scale and the scale as a whole, as well as
in the governorate variable in favor of teachers of Muscat Governorate in the third area
"future foresight of the professional situation" and the scale as a whole.
The study showed that the correlation coefficient between the two measures
reached (0.622), and this indicates that there is a direct positive correlation, and it is
statistically significant at the level of significance (0.01 ≥ α).
The study came up with a set of proposals that may contribute to improve the attitudes
of social studies teachers towards their future careers based on increasing their confidence in
Oman's future vision 2040. The study also recommended a number of recommendations, the
most prominent of which were: "The impact of using a training program based on future
studies patterns, in increasing the confidence of social studies teachers in Oman Vision 2040
as the most prominent factors contributing to improve the professional status of the Omani
teacher."
