English abstract
This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of (ChatGPT) in developing
environmental knowledge, design thinking skills, and attitudes towards sustainable
environmental development among tenth grade female students in the Sultanate of
Oman. To achieve the objectives of the study, the quasi-experimental approach was
used, and the study sample consisted of (74) female students. From the tenth grade
students at Al-Rumais School (8-10), where the study sample was divided into two
groups, the experimental group and the control group, and each group consisted of (37)
students. The researcher used three tools, namely the environmental knowledge test,
which consisted of (25) Questions, a design thinking skills test consisting of (20)
questions, and a measure of the attitude towards sustainable environmental
development consisting of (25) statements. The validity of the tools was verified by
presenting them to (10) experienced, and the stability of the tools was verified. The
tools were applied to an exploratory sample from outside the study sample by
calculating the reliability coefficient for internal consistency using the Cronbach alpha
method, which reached (0.922) in the environmental knowledge test, (0.839) in the
design thinking skills test, and (0.839) in the attitude towards measure. Sustainable
environmental development, which are high rates and educationally acceptable to
achieve the purposes of the study. The study found that there were statistically
significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in the environmental
knowledge test, the design thinking skills test, and the measure of the trend towards
sustainable environmental development for the benefit of the group. Experimentally,
and in light of these results, the study recommended the need to enhance the use of
artificial intelligence applications in education, and develop the social studies
curriculum to suit the updates of artificial intelligence applications. The study came
out with some proposals, including conducting studies that reveal the impact of the
artificial intelligence chat application ChatGPT on developing academic achievement
and thinking skills. Critical and attitudes towards digital citizenship.
