English abstract
The current study aimed at investigating the level of emotional intelligence and its dimensions, the professional competencies and their dimensions, job satisfaction and its fields of the selected sample. It also aimed at investigating the differences in the above mentioned variables according to specialty and years of experience.
The sample of this study consisted of 196 cycle-two teachers in Muscat region. In order for the study to achieve its aims, the researcher used the descriptive method. She adopted three instruments: emotional intelligence scale, Othman and AbulSam'ee (2001), professional competencies, Magribi (2008), and job-satisfaction, Al Shizawi (2008). The researcher used many statistical techniques to answer the research questions. She used means, standard deviation, Pearson, one-contrast analysis, simple and multiple regression analysis, and Shaffee test. The results of this study showed that the level of emotional intelligence and its dimensions is high with a mean of 3.65 and its dimensions had a mean which ranged between 3.77 and 3.47. The level of professional competencies was high, too, with a mean level of 4.13 and its dimensions had a mean which ranged between 4.37 and 4.95. The level of job satisfaction and its fields was moderate with a mean level of 3.47 and its fields had a mean which ranged between 3.96 and 2.87. The study showed that the importance of the dimensions of emotional intelligence was the same regard less of the teachers' specialties and their years of experience.
