English abstract
The study intends to identify " The Status and difficulties of Using the internet by the Islamic Education Teachers – The second cycle of the Basic Education level " by responding to set of questions . The study sample consists of ( 314 )teachers of Islamic Education at the second level of the basic education at Muscat Governorate . The Researcher adopted the questionnaire to gather the information. The study is composed of eight sections as follows:
Personal data of the teachers , the teachers' skills in internet literacy , internet usage, English reading skills , Service availability including :computers ownership , home and school access to the internet, internet importance and usage, the internet purposes for the teachers , the difficulties of using the internet and an open question for the teachers' proposal to extend and enhance the use of internet . The Reliability and integrity of the questionnaire data was verified by a group of arbitrators , also' the stability was ascertained by applying to some of the teachers who were not involved in the study sample. The stability factor (Alpha) is (0.94), which demonstrate a high range of consistency and coherence of the questionnaire.
The Most prominent finding of the study are the following:
• The percentace of teachers using the internet daily is (10,5%), using internet on demand is (79%) and who never use the internet are (9,5%). (72%) of the respondents believe that the use of the internet is very important to upgrade their professional and academic level.
• The main difficulties that encountered the teachers in using the internet are: spread of the virus that damages the computers while accessing the internet, poor Communication infrastructures which relatively affect the internet connectivity, lack of the technicians at the schools to help in accessibility and troubleshooting, lack of the necessary training to use internet , lack of familiarity with English.
• There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0,05) between teachers use the Internet due to the type, the difference was in favor of the male.
• The study revealed no statistical differences at all variables at (0.05) in using the internet by the teachers that are attributed to the teaching experience years, academic qualifications and English reading skills. Some of the important recommendations of the study:
Conduct training courses for the teachers of the Islamic Education to get skills and competency in using the internet on the educational aspects. Establish educational and religious database in Arabic to fulfill the demands of the Islamic Education Teachers to overcome the language obstacles and limitation.
