English abstract
The main objective of this was to investigate the role of school administration in using e-learning technology in basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman from the perceptions of school principals. The second objective was to identify the difficulties which face school administration in employing electronic learning technology at schools. To achieve the objectives, the study used descriptive method. A questionnaire with 50 items was used to collect data from a sample of 492 principles of basic education schools. The questionnaire consisted of five dimensions: using e-learning technology in administrative matters, teaching, evaluating students, professional development and the difficulties which school administration faces in employing electronic education technology at basic education schools The study has found that the level of using electronic education technology was very high in the dimension of administrative matters among principals at schools. The study also found statistical significant differences between male and female principals in the perceptions of administration role of using electronic education technology, where female principals indicated higher perceptions than male in employing electronic education technology in administrative affairs at schools. Furthermore, the results showed that principals with many years of experience perceived high role of school administration in utilizing electronic education technology in the dimensions of administrative matters, teaching, student's assessment, and difficulties. Based on academic qualifications, the results of the study did not show statistical significant differences among principals' perceptions of difficulties face school administration in the use of electronic education technology at basic education schools . According to the results of the study, a number of recommendations were provided. The most important one is to specify a particular budget at schools for electronic projects and encouraging teachers to use technology to communicate with students and their parents. The study also recommended using this technology to prepare electronic tests and distant learning. The study recommended finding solutions for the poor internet insides schools by communicating with communication companies to improve internet services. In addition, further research was suggested to study the effect of using technology on the communication between students and schools; and the effects of utilizing distance learning on the improvement of student achievement.
