English abstract
The study aimed at determining the degree of application of democratic practices by Islamic Education Teachers in classroom to the stage of post-basic education at the Sultanate of Oman, In addition to knowing the impact of gender variable and teaching experience. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers adopted a descriptive approach in which he prepared a list of democratic practices in classroom, whose virtual truthfulness was verified afterwards. The researcher designed an observation card comprising of (23) practices which where divided into five fields: classroom management, introduce the subject and its teaching methods, the activities and teaching aids and the evaluation and homework. The card presented once again to the specialists arbitrators through Pearson Correlation Coefficient among estimates of the observers. After confirming the stability of the observation card, it was applied to the study sample, which consisted of 30 male and female Islamic education teachers from the post-basic education schools in the A'Dakhiliyah Governorate and at rate of two classroom visit for each teacher. The main findings of the study revealed the application of democratic practices by Islamic Education Teachers in classroom included on observation card was medium; with a mean of (2.40) and standard deviation (1.01). The results also revealed statistically significant difference at the level (0.05-a) between averages of participants' application of democratic practices in all fields, which attributed to the variable gender and in favor of females in all fields, The results also revealed no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05-a) between averages of participants' application of democratic practices in all fields, which attributed to the variable teaching experience in all areas of study. In light of these findings, the researcher has recommended enrolling Islamic education teachers in courses and training programs; focus on the principles of democracy and modifying teaching methods and educational activities and evaluation means, which would help the democratic learning. Additionally, including the democratic practices in the card of evaluating the performance of Islamic Education Teachers. The researcher also presented a set of proposals for future studies concerning the democratic aspect in the educational process
