English abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Caricatures drawing on the achievement level of grade four omani students.
It also aimed to investigate students' perceptions towards using this method in teaching social studies.
The sample of the study consisted of 56 grade four students from a Basic Education School in South Al Batinah Governorate in Oman.
They were divided into two groups: an experimental group of 28 students (male and female) who studied the unit "the Water in the Sultanate of Oman" using the cartoon drawing, which was prepared by the researcher for the purpose of this study. The control group of 28 students (male and female) who studied the same unit using the traditional way.
The study was conducted during the second part of the year 2017-2018. The researcher used two instruments to answer the research questions which were:an achievement test that served as a pretest and a posttest. A questionnaire - which consisted of 3 sections, each section consisted of five items - was conducted to investigate students' perceptions towards using this method.
The result of the study showed a statistical differences at the level of significance ween the groups in the achievement test for the benefit of the experimental group. It also showed that this group has a positive tendency towards using Caricatures drawing in teaching social studies.
Accordingly the researing, interesting, enjoyable educational environmentcher recommended activating the use of Caricatures drawings among the teachers and students and explain it's importance and effectiveness in providing an encourag.
