English abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the difficulties of teaching the text book of geography and modern techniques in grade twelve from the perspective of teachers of this subject. It also aim to examine the impact of variables of gender, teaching experience and training course.
To achieve the aims of this study, the researcher used the descriptive method. He designed a questionnaire consisting of (50) items distributed to (6) domains which are: difficulties related to teacher, difficulties related to learner, difficulties related to content, difficulties related to educational technology means, difficulties related to indoor class activities, and difficulties related to assessment. After examining its validity and reliability, the instrument was applied on the target sample which are (135) male and female teachers of geography and modern techniques in school after the basic education in the governorates: Muscat, North of Batina, South of Batina, Dhkiliya, and Dhofar.
The results showed that the difficulties of teaching the text book of geography and modern techniques in grade twelve was moderate and high degree as (4.05). The results also showed that there were no statistically significant difference at (0.05=a) attributed to gender variables. Beside that the results stated that there is no statistically significant difference at (0.05-a) can be attributed to variables teaching experience levels in all domains except the difficulties related to teacher and difficulties related to indoor class activities which showed statistically significant difference favoring teachers of students of 11 years and above. In addition, these results showed that there are no statistically significant difference at (0.05-a)among the levels of training courses in all domains except the difficulties related to assessment which had statistically significant difference favoring the group of teachers who have no training courses.
The researcher recommends the necessity of implementing more workshops and training program that are appropriate to teachers of geography and modern techniques. This is to help them acquire the skills to deal with modern techniques. The study also come up with some suggestions for the future studies.
