English abstract
This study aimed to construct a scale for aesthetic preference among students in post-basic education in the Sultanate of Oman. It aimed to find out its psychometric properties in terms of validity, reliability, and performance norms. The scale of the images for thirty paintings 15 of them belong to the direction of realistic and the other 15 plates belong to the direction of abstract. All these images are observed through the monitor LCD through the computer and choose the level of preference for each panel of art from among five levels of preference. The sample size consisted of 814 students from the provinces of Shargiya North, Muscat and Dakhiliya. The study was applied during the first semester of the academic year 2012/2013. The validity has been verified by two methods: face validity and factorial validity. The reliability has been verified by two ways: internal consistency (n = 814), The Cronbach's alpha scales stores was (0.76) for realistic direction items and (0.85) for abstract direction items, and the second through the re-application where the correlation coefficient Pearson between the two applications (0.76) for realistic direction items and (0.80) for abstract direction items. The effectiveness of the 30 items of the scale has been verified by calculating the correlation coefficients between each item and its corresponding domain. The performance norms was then derived to interpret the grades of crude, where it was used percentile ranksgiven due to its ease and clarity, and its ability to locate an individual in the group standard to which he belongs. Finally, number of recommendations and suggestions has been introduced.
