English abstract
The present study aimed to test the effectiveness of question answer relationships strategy (QAR) in developing reading comprehension skills of basic eighth grade students, to ensure this, the study adopted a semi-experimental approach based on the design of the experimental and control groups. The experimental group included (27) students and the control group (28) students from two different schools.
The researcher prepared two Research materials: a list of reading comprehension skills, a teacher manual in teaching strategy, and a research tool that consisted of testing reading comprehension skills, the researcher has verified the validity of the materials and the tool by presenting them to a jury of validators. Cronbach alpha was used to check the reliability of the test which was 0.86.
The statistical methods used in the study revealed the effectiveness of (QAR) strategy in developing reading comprehension skills as a whole for the benefit of the students of the experimental group.
Therefore, the researcher recommended that attention should be given to developing reading comprehension skills with question-based strategies such as current strategy, question generation strategy and KWL strategy, the researcher suggested conducting studies to reveal the effectiveness of the question and answer relationship strategy in other branches in the Arabic language and in various study stages.
