English abstract
The study aimed at investigating the relationship between the future anxiety and Vocational Maturity of 10th grade students in North Batinah Governorate. Also, the study investigates the level of future anxiety and Vocational Maturity with grade 10t students through the impacts of gender type on the level of future anxiety and Vocational Maturity based on study sample. The researcher used a descriptive analysis methodology for its appropriateness to research study. Moreover, to achieve the study objectives, the researcher used a future anxiety instrument and Vocational Maturity instrument on a total of 600 randomly selected students, (308) male student and (292) female student.
The findings of the study revealed that the level of future anxiety of study sample was average (mild). In addition, the results showed that there was no statistically significant difference with (α≤0.05) in the responses of the students with respect to gender type. Moreover, the results depicted that the level of Vocational Maturity in the study sample was high; there was a statistically significant differences with a value of (α≤0.05) among students' responses of Vocational Maturity with grade 10 students with respect to gender type in three dimensions (interest in career choice decision making _ independency of decision making of career choice_ flexibility in selecting the career path decision) in favor of female students sample. There were no statistically significant differences in two dimensions (confirming the decision of career choice, and availability of information regarding decision making of career choice). Furthermore, the results revealed a statistically significant negative correlation between future anxiety and Vocational Maturity and their dimensions with a value of (α≤0.01) among 10th grade students in Batinah North Governorate.
The main recommendations of the study is to increase the number of awareness raising and guidance programs for students in schools so it will embrace all grades (5-9) as a preventive action to help students select their career choice away from future anxiety.
