English abstract
The aim of this study was to test the effectiveness of teaching using the Pictorial Story in the achievement and the impact of remained learning. The sample consisted of (73) fifth grade female students selected from one basic education school in Muscat Governorate. The sample was divided into two groups; experimental group(n=37 students) taught by the Pictorial Story and control group( n=36) taught by the conventional teaching method.
To achieve the study aims, the researcher designed a teacher's manual in how to use the Pictorial Story in teaching and she designed an achievement test, contained of (30) multiple choice questions. The reliability of the achievement test was(0.75).
The study lasted for three weeks in the second semester of 2013/2014 academic year. And after finishing the experience, the researcher applied the immediate achievement test and after two weeks the same test was applied again. The results of the study showed that there is a statistical significant differences between means of the experimental group and the control group marks in the immediate achievement and in the test of delayed achievement in favor of the experimental group that studied by Pictorial Story method.
In the light of the above results, the study proposed-several recommendations such as conducting training workshop for teachers and supervisors of Islamic education in how to use the Pictorial Story in teaching, including the method of teaching by the Pictorial Story in the methodology subjects that undergraduate students study in the education colleges and also in the Islamic education teacher manual.
