English abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of teaching geometry by using iPad to improve achievement and attitude toward mathematics for grade eight students. The study sample consists of (67) students divided into two groups: experimental group(N=34) and the control group (N= 33). The experimental group studied the geometry unit using iPad whereas the control group studied the same unit in the traditional method. The study group was pre-tested using achievement test and attitude scale prepared by researcher to check the group parity.
To achieve the goals of study, the researcher made the teaching subject of geometry unit of grade eight, achievement test, and attitude scale toward the mathematics. It was modified by a team of experts jury. The researcher used Alpha Kronbach which were (0.884) and (0.904) in order.
To answer the questions of the study, the researcher used (T-Test) and pearson correlation coefficient and came up to the following conclusions:
• There were statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) level between mean scores of eight grader of the experimental group and the control group in the post achievement test.
• There were statistically significant difference at (α = 0.05) level between mean scores of eight grader of the experimental group and the control group on the attitude scale in the post test.
• There were statistically significant correlation at (α = 0.05) level between posttest achievement scores and attitude toward mathematics.
Based on the study results, the following recommendations were made: trying to use the iPad to group of schools with different stages to determine the effectiveness and the benefits of the study and the extent of achievement the educational objectives. In addition, to know the disadvantages of the study, and how it solve then. More over the educational institutions merge the iPad in educational practices inside the school the classrooms. Also, doing workshops to train teachers using iPad and its applications.
