English abstract
The aim of the study is to examine the effectiveness of teaching Numbered Head strategy to grade nine basic education students in their dictation achievement and their attitude towards it. To achieve this, the researcher has prepared three tools: 1- a guide of the Numbered Head strategy to be used in teaching the experimental group, 2- a dictation test, 3- an attitude measurement tool. All of these tools were shown to many expert juries to test their validity. The Test Reliability was done according to Person's correlation coefficient which was (0.83) and the reliability of the attitude measurement tool was done according to Alfa Cronbach and it was (0.86).
The sample of the study was divided into two groups: The experimental group (26) students who studied dictation according to the Numbered Head strategy and a controlled group of (23) student who were under the usual ways of learning dictation.
Data analysis reveals neither statistically significant difference between the experimental group and control group in their achievement in the dictation achievement nor a significant difference in the student's attitudes. Accordingly, the researcher suggests using the Numbered Head Strategy in other fields of teaching Arabic language and in some other grades to assess its effectiveness. The researcher encourages teachers to give more consideration and attention to adopt a positive attitude towards Arabic language learning as it is a national language.
