English abstract
The propose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of laboratory teaching strategy on developing achievement and geometric thinking for female students of grade six by trying to answer these questions:
1. What is the effectiveness of laboratory teaching on the achievement of female students of grade six?
2.What is the effectiveness of laboratory teaching on the geometric thinking of female students of grade six?
The samples of the study consists (58) students, divided into two groups, (29) students in the experimental group studying by the laboratory teaching strategy and (29) students in the control group studying by the regular method.
The study used achievement test and geometric thinking test for the first fourth stages of Van Heile model. After applying the method for (5) weeks , The results were as the following:
1. There is a statistically significant deference at level(a < 0.05) between
the median of experimental group and control group of the post achievement test towards the experimental group.
2. There is a statistically significant deference at levela's 0.05) between
the median of experimental group and control group of the post geometrical thinking test towards the experimental group.
In accordance to the study results, the researcher set the following recommendations :
1. The development of the geometrical thinking by inserting geometrical problem solving strategies in the mathematics curricula needs to be highly considered By education curriculum authors.
2. The mathematics examinations are recommended to include problems that need a high level of the students thinking specially the geometrical thinking.
3. Similar studies are recommended on different educational levels.
