English abstract
Samail has played an important role in Oman history during different cras. Historians focused on recording the political events during the studied period and compromised on recording the other life aspects. Therefore, this research was conducted to study the social, the economic and the cultural life in Sarnail after the end of Imamate regime in Oman (1373/1954).
This research aims to study the life style of people living at that time and their traditions and customs. Also, it focuses on the business activities and highlights the educational institutes and the roles of the religious scholars, pouts and writers to enrich the society by sharing their knowledge among people.
The researcher adapted the descriptive and analytical approach to fulfill the study objectives. The study is divided into an abstract and three chapters. The abstract provides a historical and geographical glance of Samall. The first chapter discusses the social life of locals and their traditions and customs. The diverse economic activities are discussed in chapter two while chapter three discusses the culture and religious constructions. The results of the study show the nature of social life and traditional customs that were common in Samail. They also reveal the status of trade, economic activities and the most common handicraft. Moreover, they emphasize on the educational places such as mosques, libraries and schools and it outlines the most well known and scholars, poets and writers and talks about their contribution to enrich the locals' knowledge.
