English abstract
The current research aimed to train a group of school social workers to use the generalist model of social work (Micro level) and to examine its impact to improve the practice of social workers with students' cases. The training program was designed on the common basis of training to provide workers with knowledge and skills of generalist practice and to train them to apply the generalist model with individuals.
The quasi-experimental design was the basic method to examine the relation between the training program as independent variable and improving the professional performance of social workers of the experimental group as dependent variable. The researcher used the classical design of two groups (pretest-post-test of controlled and experimental group). Both groups consisted of (17) social workers from Muscat Educational District. The training program continued for 5 training days (30 training hours) followed by some additional activities for one semester.
The most important results were as follows: 1- The training program helped social workers of the experimental group to improve their professional knowledge, skills and the ability to apply stages of generalist practice model. Statistical analysis revealed that there is a significant difference between the
pre-test and the post-test of the experimental group. 2- Results demonstrated that the training program led to significant differences between the experimental and the controlled group as regard to knowledge, skills, and the ability to apply the steps of generalist model. 3- The analysis of reports of school cases -based on generalist practice model- demonstrated the social workers of the experimental group applied steps and skills of the generalist model and workers show good ability to use the model.
On the basis of results, the researcher recommended to use the current program to train school social workers to improve their performance with students' cases.
