English abstract
This study aimes to show the effectiveness of a Group Counseling Program on
developing self esteem for blind people in the Sultanate of Oman.It covers 30 blind
people at the age of (14-20) studying in Omar bin Al-Khattab institution for blind
people in the year 2009/2011. I attained about 30 teneegers from this institution.
As a consequence, the researcher used self esteem measurement. Then, it has
been actualized by showing it to some juelges. Moreover, validity measurement
was taken out using Krobankh Alpha modulus and the validity percentage was
(0,841) whereas pearson modulus was (0,911).
In addition, acollective guidance program was designed for about 16 sessions
based on behavioral, rational and emotional medication theory for Albirt Iliss And
I used many strategies such as, role plays, discussions, conversations and
homework.
The sample group was devided into two groups, controlled and
experamintal group. Then I began doing the program for the experamintal group
which contains 15 teenagers in 2 sessios a week, each session was for (60-90)
minutes. Whereas no training was held for the other 15 from the controlled group.
For data analysis, I have counted the average and the standard deviation for self
esteem marks for both groups for the dimensional and continoual measurement and
use Mann-Whitney U Test in order to investigate the difference accurately between
the two groups.
The results have shown statistically significant differences between the two
groups in self esteem marks. The experamintal group got higher marks in this test
because of the behavioral and emotional guidance program which they have been
given.
