English abstract
This study aimed to identify the effect of self-esteem on the concepts of citizenship among the hearing impaired. The study used the descriptive correlational method and the researcher applied two measures: self-esteem measure prepared by the researcher and the concepts of citizenship measure prepared by (Barakat & Al Tobi, 2016). The study sample consisted of (50) hearing impaired, male and female students. The study came up with the following results: - The level of self-esteem according to the dimensions of the self-esteem measure
among the search sample varied from medium to high. The family self-esteem dimension took the lead among the arithmetic averages and the mental capabilities came last. As for the grand total of self-esteem, the result was on the medium level. The level of citizenship concepts measure came on the medium level. The cognitive dimension got the first rank, followed by the behavioral then the emotional. The level of time perspective came on the medium level. The belonging to the past got the first rank then the present while the future came last. There are variations with statistical significance at (a < 0.05) level attributed to sex variable on the self-esteem level on the following dimensions: (the individuals perception of themselves, the intellectual capacities, the social self-esteem and the grand total) on favor of the females.
- There are differences with statistical significance at (a < 0.05) level attributed to the study year on the self-esteem level on the followin dimensions:
o The individuals' perception of themselves, the family self-esteem and the social self-esteem and the grand total of the measure between the first and the second years in favor of the second year.
o The individuals' perception of themselves, the intellectual capacities and the grand total of the measure between the first and the (third) year and above in favor of the (third) year and above.
There are no differences with statistical significance at the (a < 0.05) level attributed to sex variable on the measure of citizenship concepts on the emotional dimension d the belonging to the present or the past. However, there are differences in the cognitive, behavioral and the belonging to the past dimensions in favor of the females.
There are differences with statistical significance at (a < 0.05) level attributed to the study year variable on the measure of citizenship concepts as follows:
o In all dimensions of citizenship concepts between the first and the third year and above in favor of the third year and above. And between the second year and the third year and above in favor of the third year and above.
There is no statistical clue that ensures the anticipation of self-esteem on the dimensions of citizenship concepts and the belonging to time.
