English abstract
This study aimed to explore four important aspects. First, it aimed to explore the level spread ratio of each of future anxiety and the psychological hardiness of a sample of grade 12 students in Muscat Governorate and to discover the relationship between future anxiety and psychological hardiness. In addition, it aimed to find out if there are of statistically significant differences in future anxiety and psychological hardiness based on gender. Moreover, it aimed to discover the statistical significance of the case-study samples in future anxiety based on specialty (basic-applied). The population of this study consisted of 400 students of grade 12, 200 males and 200 females in Muscat governorate.
The researcher employed a descriptive methodology approach in her study. To achieve the aims of the study, she applied two tools. First: future anxiety questions prepared by (Sabawi, 2007) and psychological hardness questions developed by (Mikhemer, 2002). The study concludes the following results: - 4% of the sample study has future anxiety and it is more in the males comparing to the females
by 6%. - 93% of the study sample has psychological hardiness and it is more in the females comparing to males by 96% - There is a weak non-significant negative correlation that is among the degrees of future anxiety and its five fields and the psychological f hardness variable and its three dimensions. There are differences which are statistically significant at the (0.05) level due to the gender variable in all fields (psychological, economic and social) and in the questionnaire as a whole in favor of male students in each field while there are no statistically significant differences
between males and females in the health and family fields. - There are statistically significant differences at the (0.05) level due to the social type variable in
the dimensions of commitment, challenge and in measurement as whole in favor of the male students in these dimensions while there are no statistically significant differences between males and females in the control dimension. According to the results of this study and its discussion, the researcher recommends:
1. The need to focus on building counseling programs to raise the level of psychological hardiness to the grade 12 students.
2. The need to focus on preparing the counselling programs to raise awareness of what the future holds and can help students see their potential and how to face the future effectively.
