This study addresses the poetic image in the poetry of Saif AlRahbi, and is divided into three chapters. The first chapter (Qasidat Al-Nathr( free verse) & poetic image) introduces a short-detailed profile about the History of Modern Arabic Poetry and the importance that Qasidat AlNathr occupies within it. Furthermore, this chapter delivers an elaborate review of the poetic image through three different perspectives: 1. Identifying its importance on poetry and critical works. Y. Specifying its concept and other correlated concepts. . Illustrating the approach followed in its study. The second chapter (image sources in Saif's poetry) spots alight on the different cultural, environmental, and natural backgrounds from which Saif derives, either consciously or not, his poetic images. The purpose beyond all of this is to highlight the distinctive features of the artistic depiction style in Saif's poetry, to enlighten sides of his philosophy in life and to unveil the psychological sides of his personality. The third chapter image forms in Saif's poetry) places emphasis on assessing different stylistic structures wherever a poetic image is found and specifying accompanying linguistic and artistic features coming with them. One of the most distinguished conclusions reached through this study with regard to poetic image is the fact that it represents an essential structural element in the poem and enriches critical works as well. Researchers can also be exposed to important aspects related to the poem equally as well as to the poet. Throughout the study of poetic image with Saif, we succeeded in disclosing important sides of Saif's mentality and philosophy, revealing certain aspects of his psychology and personality, and eventually deducing some of the artistic features that characterize his artistic style of depiction. In this study, three main forms of poetic image are recognized in Saif's poetry: rhetorical, symbolical, and mythical. In each form, Saif's depiction style shows a group of artistic features some of which represent an evolution in the use of those forms in comparison with previous Arabs experiences with poetry, whereas others represent a setback.
