The study aimed to identify the career planning and the practices of career guidance specialists among eleventh grade students in Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman, and to investigate any differences that may exist in career planning and practices of career guidance specialists according to gender, educational path, and activation of weekly vocational guidance classes. It also aimed to reveal the degree to which the vocational guidance specialist’s practices contribute to predicting levels of career planning. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Career Planning Scale and the Career Guidance Specialist Practices Questionnaire were used. A simple random sampling method included 796 eleventh grade students. As seen by students, results showed high levels career planning and the practices of career guidance specialists, no statistically significant differences in all dimensions of the two tools except for knowledge of world of work within the career planning scale in favor male students. In addition, no statistically significant differences in the levels of career planning were found based on educational path, but statistically significant differences were found in the practices of the vocational guidance specialist. Also, there were statistically significant differences in all dimensions of two tools due to the activation of weekly vocational guidance classes, except for self-concept in the career planning. Practices of career guidance specialists can predict career planning among students. Practical implications and recommendations for future research are provided.
