Survey concentrated in the Sharqiyah yielded seventy-nine sites* among which cairns of various types predominated. Of these the 'beehive' tomb was one of the more readily identifiable and its known distribution was considerably extended as a result of the survey. Numerous 'beehive' tombs were noted both on the Jabal al Haura and the Jabal al Hammah near the northern limits of the Wahiba Sands, and several flint-working sites were found in the latter region.
