The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of the meta cognitive learning cycle on achievement of scientific concepts and retention among grade nine male students. The introduced throughout the unit of the electricity and technical application. The sample consisted of (60) male 96 grade students at Abdul malik bin Humaid Basic School in Sharqia South Region. The sample was divided into two groups: The experimental group which was taught using meta-cognitive learning cycle, consisted of (30) students. The second group consisted of (30) students was control group which was taught by conventional method. To gather the information, a multiple choice test consisted of (30) items was used. The constant validity of the test was checked through a panel of judges in screen teams . The reliability was determined through Chronbach's Alpha Coefficient for internal consistency which gives the value of (0.96( The statistical analysis of the post test showed there were significant differences between the group means at (as0.05) due to treatment in favor of experimental group. At the level of recall, no significant differences between the groups at (a<0.05), but there were significant differences between the two groups in levels of understanding and application in favor of meta-cognitive learning cycle group. The statistical analysis of the retention test showed there were significant differences between the group means at («<0.05) in favor of experimental group, at the level of recognizing, understanding & application in favor of experimental group. According to the above results the researcher proposed some recommendations such as: the need to conduct seminars and work-shops for both teachers and supervisors to acquaint them with the meta cognitive learning cycle and how to implement it in classroom in order to improve the students achievement, and conducting more studies using different school stages and other variables.
