English abstract
One of the challenges in educational field is that there is no distinguished method for monitoring and managing the academic and co-curricular activities without a unified control to ensure non- refusal of information. This research explores one of the potential benefits of blockchain technology for ensuring privacy and security of students' academic performance and achievements in Higher Education Institutions. Student performance is an essential part of higher education institutions. This is because the university's high-quality standards depend on its excellent record of academic achievements. In general, most of higher education institutions use final scores to assess student's performance. Evaluation is important to maintain student's performance and learning effectiveness. By analyzing student's performance, a strategic program can be well planned during their studies. Currently, there are several techniques proposed to evaluate student performance. Data mining is one of the most common methods for analyzing student performance and it has implemented to student's performance data to provide a broader look and understanding of the final results and output, as well as, it will lead to a comparative conclusion over the outcomes of the study. Therefore, this research proposes a hybrid approach for measuring students' performance by considering the co-curriculum activities and proposing EDM to evaluate the proposed hybrid model. Student's involvement in academic and co-curricular activities and their effect on the academic performance have been analyzed using data mining classification techniques such as ID3, CHAID and Naïve Bayes. The results of this research reveal to some important indications about the impact of co-curriculum activities on students' academic performance and the use of a blockchain that will help in ensuring privacy and security of student competencies in an effective manner.
