English abstract
Feminist writing, when deconstructed, leads to an understanding of the problematic
intersections with masculine writing by exploring the self-versus the other. This
intersection establishes a framework that observes the formulation of a visionary view of
feminine selfhood, inseparable from societal identity. It aids in understanding the formation
of a collective identity by challenging dominant discourse and undermining entrenched
societal power in an attempt to preempt thoughts, disrupt meanings, and blur rigid
judgments in societal consciousness. This serves as a counteraction to ideas ingrained in
discourse, shaping culture. Examining the depths of fictional works by several Omani
female writers, characterized by their departure from conventional norms, reveals a
rejection of cultural context and a confrontation, to some extent, with a resistant and
rebellious context against the established values, beliefs, and fixed assumptions in the
societal subconscious. This study focuses on interrogating the narrative discourse that
conveyed the voice of women, expressing their struggles, and identifying the challenges
faced by feminist writing in Omani society, whether it has replaced dominant discourse
with a competing cultural discourse that seizes the reins of expression and power. Based
on the foregoing, and employing feminist critique concepts, the study relied on
investigating the manifestations of feminist discourse in short stories, focusing on several
axes as follows: The first axis: Dealing with the feminist experience in Omani short stories
(2012-2021) and the extent of the reception reflections of the term. The second axis:
Tracing the features of feminine discourse to understand the artistic phenomena addressed
by the narrative texts. The third axis: Revealing the relationship between women and the
other gender, and its impact on their paths, negatively and positively. The fourth axis:
Investigating identity and observing the techniques possessed by texts in confronting
dominant discourse.
