This study aims to investigate the reality of the application of social work intervention models by social workers in dealing with students with some problems in the educational sphere. This has been achieved by identifying the adequacy of the knowledge and skills of social workers related to the models of professional intervention, the obstacles that may hinder the application process, and identifying solutions and proposals that may contribute to the effort of addressing these obstacles. The study is based on the multi-method or mixed methodology. It is one of the best research methods for combining the quantitative and qualitative approaches. This facilitates the understanding of the phenomenon under study in an integrated and practical manner. The study instruments included a questionnaire, interviews, focus group discussion, and content analysis of the records of selected student cases. The study participants included a sample of social workers in the schools of North Batinah Governorate (Grade 5-12); supervisors of social guidance in the Directorate of Education in the same governorate; members of the faculty of social work discipline at Sultan Qaboos University, and a focus group discussion of third and fourth year social work students. The study has come up with several results, the most important of which are the following: 1) The level of adequacy of the knowledge and skills of social workers related to the models of professional intervention and their application is average. 2) There are a number of obstacles that may hinder the effective implementation of the models of professional intervention. These obstacles are related to the theoretical and practical preparation of social workers, to their personality, to school conditions, and to the supervision of social workers working in schools. The study ended with a number of proposed solutions that could improve social workers' application of intervention models. These proposals include: a) Reorienting the theoretical and practical preparation of social workers. b) Developing practical plans to promote the knowledge and skills of social workers related to the application of intervention models in the school field. c) Intensifying workshops and training courses. d) Design a counseling guide and training packages for application of the models, as well as the need to include both the case form and the supervisors assessment form for the social workers on the dimension of intervention models application
